Ri (ribosomes) Ruled by Wexle

The Evolution of Ri

The nature of RI

Ribosomes are made of two subunits, a large subunit and a small subunit

The subunits fit together with the large subunit on top

Ribosomes are slightly longer than they are wide because the subunits are different sizes

Ribosomes are dynamic structures that associate and dissociate, and interact with other proteins

Ribosomes translate messenger RNA (mRNA) into a polypeptide chain

This process is called translation

Ribosomes assemble amino acids to form proteins
